In Her Own Words
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about who you are?

As an everyday wig-wearer, many women in my demographic have questions about hair loss and solutions. A number of women have medical reasons, others have genetic hair loss and others–well, their hair hasn't aged as beautifully as the rest of their bodies has. I'm here through posts and videos to showcase the wigs that work for us.
How did your wig wearing journey begin?

I started with toppers but my bio hair's texture is not silky and at the time, the only toppers available were like silk. In addition, it was a constant struggle to manipulate them and so I switched to wigs. At the time there were no videos so everything I learned was from videos by Women of Color and they helped me quite a bit.
Over the years, I've become aware of what works for me and what doesn't. How did you first get involved with Estetica Designs, and what made you want to become a Style Insider?
Believe it or not, I reached out to Grace Chung to see if I could meet her to discuss a blog post. We met and we've been friends ever since.
I have done many, many reviews for Estetica and I love the brand's wigs. They are well-constructed, the styles are incredible–there is a style for everyone! And the wigs last forever if you take care of them!
For me, as an older woman, it's important to be an ambassador because everything is so youth-based that the older woman is oftentimes ignored. I want to bring her to the front!
What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone new to wigs?
New to wigs? This is the time to be selfish. This is about YOU and nobody else. You need confidence and you need to feel great about yourself.
Pay no mind to what others might say. Only you can answer to what will be your best look. Watch videos. Observe the women. Are they your age or close to it? Is the shape of their face similar to yours? Do they/you have a long neck? That's important because one wig can look longer or shorter due to the length of the face.
Try not to look at over-filtered videos because the color of the wig will also be affected by the filters. You want as real of a picture as possible.
When your first wig arrives, you will feel a bit different--after all, it's different hair than what you are used to. Wear it at home, then when you do wear the wig out in public, wear it with all the confidence in the world because you will look fantastic!
Also, synthetic wigs are wonderful for first wigs because they are not as pricey as human hair. And synthetic doesn't have to be treated like your bio hair. It's very strong. Within a week or two you will be wearing a wig as a second nature! When you're not working, what do you love to do for fun or relaxation?
For relaxation, I love writing my blog. I also love spending time with my three kids and grandsons. I also love to travel. My husband is Parisian and so, we head to Paris once a year and to the Cote d'Azur in the summer. It's a nice break from working at the hospital. I also love to bake and cook–both are Zen for me.
What’s something on your bucket list?
Morocco is up there on my bucket list.
